Research Interests

Dr Benard’s current research areas are Micro Aerial Vehicle and Unsteady Aerodynamics. Beyond those two research directions he has published papers in the areas of Compressible flows, Applied Aerodynamics, Convective Heat transfer, Flow/ Boundary Layer Manipulation, Collaborative Aircraft Design, Multiphase flows (see below and OATAO publications list).

Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV)

Within the MAV research group, Dr Benard co-supervises two thesis :

  • “Long Endurance Flight by Dynamic Soaring”, Vincent Bonnin (DGA funded), currently based at University of West of England (UWE), under the co-supervision of C.A. Toomer.Jean-Marc Moschetta is also ISAE supervisor. This project is loosely related to the RTRA supported programme, Smartwing.
